This is such a ridiculously huge project. It's going to need a big push and a little help to get off the ground. Item number one on the agenda is a logo/banner. I'm pretty much allowing the artist complete freedom. I want something neato to put on the corner of the main pages and scale down for the corner of the game itself. Send me ideas or drafts.
I have some material for your perusal. Click here to check it out. If you decide you're up for putting in some huge effort, email me with your preferred work, and I'll probably get back to you with some specs.
ArtistsI'll need character, creature, and item drawings. For the first I need every major character from canon, and a few generic characters like an Ordinary Hufflepuff Student. I want every magical creature from canon that you might find around Hogwarts grounds, the forest and the lake. If you're stoked about drawing some particular items, drop me a line. I want great consistency in style, at least in the locales on the maps, so please talk to me about drawing all of a group of images, eg Hogwarts professors, Forest creatures, etc.
I have someone who's willing to make me maps if he has time, but that is highly unlikely, so if you're stoked about doing some maps for me, let me know and we can talk about it. My mapmaker-of-no-time uses some 3-d modeling software and would probably be willing to help out a newbie with some raw artistic talent for graphic design.
Finally, I need the help of one dedicated person or team for a place of honor among my artists: Famous Wizard Cards. Pretty much just like the ones we see in the Harry Potter books. They are for an integrated mini-game, like a stripped-down version of the card game from Final Fantasy VIII. This means I also need people who'll make a list of all the witches and wizards we want on the cards and the corresponding point values.
Quest WritersI'm looking for help on both primary and mini quests. Try to think of a location and a character who would ask a player to complete a quest, what and where they need to find/battle/talk/go to complete the quest, and possible items, skill, or monetary reward might be involved.
Remember, if you start the quest in the dungeon and wind up deep in the forest, there might be several mini quests the player will complete along the way. Consider if any of them should tie in. To start with, try writing a miniature quest that doesn't take a lot of skill level to complete.
Descriptions of mini quests should top out at 10 sentences. Primary quests at 40. Email me if you would like to be considered for a position as a quest writer, or if you have a particular quest you'd like to suggest.
ProgrammersNot yet. Maybe not for months. Maybe not ever. My boyfriend and I are pretty spectacular programmers, and I'm considered an expert in PHP and JavaScript. I'm going to do it right, design some object-oriented glory first, more or less from scratch, then lay out preliminary specs and do a little implementing to see how things go. Once a proper dev environment is in place I'll probably start looking for PHP and JavaScript programmers. Knowledge of MySQL a big plus.
